The 2004.5 – 2010 GM Duramax 6.6L injectors applications with engine RPO codes LLY, LBZ, and LMM. Since the injectors are visually nearly identical, and more than one engine RPO is used in some model years, care must be used in selecting the correct injector to purchase.
Duramax 6.6L Injectors
The eighth and tenth characters of the VIN are needed to select the correct injector. Furthermore the eighth character will identify the engine RPO and the tenth character the model year.
There are two different versions of the LLY engine. The first was used in model years 2004.5 – 2005 and the second in 2006 – 2007. Both are identified with a “2” in the eighth character position of the VIN. In addition for the 2006 – 2007 model years, the engine was updated and uses the LBZ injector.
In model year 2007, the LLY, LBZ, and LMM engines were used. Use the eighth character of the VIN to identify the engine.
In model year 2010 G series vans, the LMM and LGH engines are used.
If the incorrect injector is installed, the engine injector electrical connector will not connect to the injector electrical connection because they are all keyed differently.
The injectors for the LBZ and LMM engines have an injector quantity adjustment code (IQA) that must be entered Engine Control Module (ECM) and Glow Plug Control Module (GPCM) during the installation process using an appropriate scan tool.
Be sure and select the correct injector so you can avoid the problems you will run into if the incorrect injector is selected to install on your Durmax 6.6L engine.
