Ford 6.0L Diesel Cylinder Head
Many of our callers here at Roadmaster are looking for Ford 6.0L diesel cylinder heads. We have them. For only $500 exchange, Roadmaster can have one or two of these remanufactured cylinder heads ready to ship in two days.
The stock TTY head bolts do a mediocre job of equalizing the clamping force of the head bolts. The head bolts are also much more prone to stretching than head studs, and under high cylinder pressures are prone to fail.
For a 6.0L that remains completely stock, the TTY head bolts are suitable. However, for modified engines or engines that are under constant load, the stock head bolts are a weak link in the Ford 6.0L diesel. Additionally, the EGR system can cause high coolant temperatures or turbo overboost situations. High coolant temperatures may cause slight warping of the cylinder heads, which can lead to head bolt failures. Too much turbo boost can result in increased cylinder pressures and cause the TTY bolts to stretch. This causes blown head gaskets.
ARP head studs
Especially relevant ARP head studs are recommended. ARP cylinder head studs are the clear favorite among top professional engine builders in nearly every form of motor sports. Consequently ARP uses a premium grade 8740 alloy that is rated superior to aircraft quality. Then each stud is specially heat treated in a vertical fixture that insures complete heat penetration. After heat treating the studs are centerless ground for precise concentricity, and then the threads are rolled which gives them ten times better fatigue strength than competitor’s studs.
